Press release: Runaround Sue Vintage goes live at the Farm
Runaround Sue Vintage goes live at the Farm
www.runaroundsuevintage.com
Runaround Sue Vintage, up-and-running since January of this year, has, so far, been solely accessible online. But now, she’s ready to show her face, and all of her vintage lace, at her very first market fair.
To celebrate her arrival in Charleston’s creative and vintage-friendly community, owner Kelly Rae Smith is taking the dot-com boutique to the Music Farm next month for the Lowcountry Artist Market. Smith can’t think of a better place to go live than the Farm, a place that naturally draws lovers of art, in the design district of Upper King.
“It’s the perfect chance to get acquainted with the local, like-minded community, and vice versa,” owner Kelly Rae Smith said. “I’m excited that I’ll be surrounded by the best minds in Charleston and their impressive craftsmanship”
The Lowcountry Artist Market is a one-day event taking place at the Music Farm on Ann Street from 10am-3pm on Saturday, November 19th, a date cleverly close to the commencement of the holiday season.
Smith said, “This will be the place to fill your Santa sacks full of unique, one-of a-kind gifts, from Runaround Sue’s vintage one-offs to hoards of local crafts and designs.”
The Runaround Sue Vintage stall will not only feature a seemingly infinite array of women and men’s clothing, aprons, shoes, bags, and sewing patterns, but will also boast new-to-you, eco-friendly crafts like upcycled vintage tea cup candles. Other retro goodies are the works as well, so expect the shop’s vintage suitcase to spilleth over with charming little treats, including a free compilation CD full of vintage tunes as a complimentary gift to the first twenty buyers.
Please note that the online shop will close during the hours between 10am and 3pm on November 19th, 2011. In most cases, the Runaround Sue items at the market stall will be much cheaper than the online price. An ATM machine will be on-site, but everyone is encouraged to also bring cash. Smith is in the process of trying to make credit card purchases possible as well.
The online boutique holds secret sales for Facebook and Twitter fans and sends out a free compilation CD with every online order, full of rare vintage tunes. Search for Runaround Sue Vintage Boutique on Facebook, or @runaroundsuevtg on Twitter, and stay updated on vintage fairs, events, sales, and other retro news.
About Runaround Sue Vintage: Although the idea and name of Runaround Sue Vintage was conceived in an Edinburgh, Scotland flat over three years ago, the dream didn’t come into fruition until January, 2011. Sourcing much of the stock from her own overflowing vintage wardrobe, Kelly Rae Smith visited her South Carolina home (and their many thrift stores), and soon decided that the time was finally right for www.runaroundsuevintage.com to be born. The online shop is now stocked with nearly unique items from all over Europe and the US east coast; any of their known stories are told in the item descriptions.
Smith has recently moved from Scotland after a five-year stint where she was a food & drink magazine editor and cultural journalist. She is now living in the Avondale neighborhood of Charleston, SC running the Runaround Sue Vintage headquarters, freelance editing, and occasionally sipping Lady Grey from pretty vintage tea cups. .

Runaround Sue Vintage brings Joy to the World of ugly
For immediate release
Runaround Sue Vintage brings Joy to the World of ugly
www.runaroundsuevintage.com
Runaround Sue Vintage, the online emporium based in Charleston, SC, isn’t all lace and grace, all pretty and frilly. It’s also a little silly. It’s even a little ugly.
In preparation for December’s inundation of homes filled with festive tunes, booze and endearingly tacky attire, Runaround Sue is stocking up on many varieties of ugly in the Christmas sweater department.
“Everyone’s bound to get a few Ugly Christmas Sweater Party invites this year,” owner Kelly Rae Smith said. “And with so many ugly sweater wars in the works, we plan to dress our customers for battle.”
For years now, it’s become increasingly fashionable to fill Facebook albums with photos of house guests gathered in front of Christmas trees, adorned in the tackiest holiday sweaters in town. Thrift stores, attics and mothers’ closets are scoured. Competitions ensue. It gets ugly indeed.
Smith said, “We’ve taken all the dirty search work out of the equation for our shoppers. Whatever level of ugly desired, we’ve got you covered. From jolly snowmen to stockings with bling, our vintage sweater section is where it’s at.”
Runaround Sue Vintage boasts Christmas sweater vests, cardigans, turtlenecks and sweaters decorated in candy canes, cardinals, cottages and more. The online store also stocks nearly 500 aesthetically-pleasing vintage items, including women and men’s clothing, aprons, shoes, accessories, sewing patterns and knitted novelties for all occasions.
The online boutique holds secret sales for Facebook and Twitter fans and sends out a free compilation CD with every order, full of rare vintage tunes. Search for Runaround Sue Vintage Boutique on Facebook, or @runaroundsuevtg on Twitter, and stay updated on vintage fairs, events, sales and other retro news.
