4th Annual Runaround Sue Vintage Charity Fashion Show & Hat Party

Back for more the fourth year running, the Runaround Sue Vintage charity fashion show will be held Sat. May 16, 2015 at Local 616. Admission is $10 — or $8 if guests come donning a vintage hat. Proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Kicking off at 8 p.m., the first 50 through the door will get a goody bag filled with gift cards and knickknacks from Charleston’s creative community, including Consigning Women and Spacecraft Studios.

The 10-minute runway show starts at 9 p.m. sharp, so early-bird attendance is encouraged. Models will wear Runaround Sue Vintage fashions scanning several eras, while loud retro tunes complement every look.

After all the fashion, Dumb Doctors will perform 1960s garage-rock covers, which will be followed by the ragtime sounds of The V-Tones of Charleston.

Lava Salon will glam up the models’ hair and makeup, and Third-Eye Vintage will contribute vintage accessories and more to the looks. Clothes modeled will be available for purchase after the show.

Raffle prizes from businesses like D’Allesandro’s Pizza and Al Di La will be given out later on in the night, with those proceeds going to HairPlaceNYC.

This show is in memory of Elizabeth Walker, a close friend of Runaround Sue Vintage owner, Kelly Rae Smith. Elizabeth lost her battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on September 27, 2012.

HairPlaceNYC is the hair replacement salon/wig shop who fitted Elizabeth for a wig on one of the darkest days of her battle, which restored her confidence and pulled her back into the light.

Show updates will be posted to the Runaround Sue’s blog, Twitter, and Facebook page in the coming weeks.
